Limescale

Coca cola makes a great de-limer Pour that half bottle with no fizz left that sits in your fridge down the toilet or fill balloons, attach over taps and leave overnight. Gleaming surfaces in the morning :) Apparently - some US police forces keep a crate of it in their cars to clean up the road after...

3/4" BSW

Hi Lemonade Eeew, nasty plastic conduit is for alarm engineers... just kidding :) Thanks for the reply. I had to admit defeat after lots of searching (mainly on ebay!) and went for the imperial > metric adaptor. Found lots of BSP dies but needed BS Whitworth thread. The original idea was more of a c...

Sydenham Hill Nature Reserve Relics

Went for a walk to sweat off a hangover yesterday through Sydenham Hill Nature Reserve. Whilst mooching along the old CP to Nunhead railway line the other half and I discovered an old structure that resembles a chapel of sorts. Most of it has fallen down and only measures approx. 5 metres square; it...

Hi Lemonade Not really a DIY question but you seem the kinda guy who might know... I've been trying to source a die (and probably a stock too) for the old imperial 3/4" steel conduit (230/400volts) Guess my trade :D Do you know of any stockists/wholesalers in the area who might be able to help ...

Re: Putting up a mirror

After measuring it all up with the missus, I used the correct drill bit for the brown plug, drilled two holes, put the plugs in, hoisted the mirror into place, and screwed the screws into place. Only that the screws went halfway and the plugs decided they didn;t want to take and so just span in the...

Re: Your Central Heating Radiators

4) Starting at one side onlyUse the 24mm spanner/large adjustable spanner/waterpump pliers to unscrew anticlockwise the nut closest to the radiator. (the nut is horizontal) This nut screws the valve to the radiator. (NOT the nut which screws the valve to the pipework) May I suggest a second ...

 Probably explains why Penge West is in such a poor state; they must be waiting for ELLP to finance its re-furb.

SD

All traffic signals in London (except temporary ones at roadworks) are managed by Transport for London
You can report faults by visiting their website -

http://streetfaults.tfl.gov.uk/

That junction is a nightmare for traffic and pedestrians alike. Good luck!

I'm in agreement with Fishcox; if we're going to end up with more open land after the redevelopment then whats the problem? Section 6.3.22 of the CPP Planning Framework (Sydenham Gateway bit) states "an option for the provision of high quality villa style development along Crystal Palace Park R...

I don't own any ladders myself (the HSE frown upon them for work over 2 metres in height) but have you considered hiring a set? Try: Rent-a-Tool, Forest Hill 8291 8080 HSS Hire, Dulwich 8299 1800 HSS Hire, Elmers End 8658 5877 Their rates are quite reasonable (ask for a weekend deal) and they...

312 Buses

Hello chaps

Just a little reminder to all those 312 bus users that it has from yesterday (03-09-05) changed to Route 197. 312 now only exists as a single decker between Norwood Junction and South Croydon.

I've been working from home recently and noticed the calm of LPR just minutes after they closed the road. It's great! Just like last summer; they should make it an annual event :D Funny how you don't notice all the background noise until it's gone. Unfortunately LPA will probably fall apart again if...

A spot of news - Mitchells & Butlers have contacted me to say The Greyhound is due for a major refurbishment; downstairs, upstairs, the function room, inside and out in the near future. No more Arena branding and a new management team. It's obviously going to take time to restore its reputation ...

Gilly Try guest.services(at)mbplc.com Funny how Arena pubs aren't included in the drop-down menu on their 'Find a pub' section of the M&B website. I wonder why? :? On a serious note, I hope this doesn't turn into a Greyhound hate campaign; I just wish they'd sort their act out and make it a comf...

I recently contacted Mitchells & Butlers, the parent company of Arena Pubs regarding the above issues (plus the poor service); they are currently 'investigating' the situation. Maybe if enough of us do this we might get a respectable, clean adult pub back in our neighbourhood. Customer Services ...

Refuse and recycling collections in LPR

Just phoned Envirocall as to why the wheelie and green bins weren't emptied in Lawrie Park Road yesterday.
Apparently they cant get the lorries down here because of the Transco works.
You could fit a bus down that bit! Hang on a minute...

Grrrrrrr.

Yes the place is in need of a refurbishment or debranding of the Arena image, maybe they could start by providing complimentary wellie boots for the gents toilets. :D
