Re: Machete found after Sydenham school fight

I’m not a fan of the media posting pictures that inflame the situation. Kids carry knives mostly because they are afraid that other kids are carrying knives. The same can be said for the increase in size of the knife. Most are just scared little kids, full of fluctuating testosterone. My hope is tha...

Re: Building work by Penge east station

Whilst saddened, i can’t say I am that surprised. It seemed to be lacking a clear “identity”. Obviously a coffee shop, but lacking any clear branding or soul aesthetically. It would not have had me cantering down the road to spend.Good Coffee is an expensive luxury, and I would want to be pre-sold w...

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

Pretty standard to be without a seat during peak foodie periods - it’s the same in The Dolphin on busy days and they have a great floor plate to work with. What the Greyhound could probably do with, is a few high poseur tables in the Centre with some handbag clips beneath. I’m happy to stand / mingl...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

Hissingsyd - If you draft a generic email / letter and post it here along with an email address, I would be happy to add my voice to your complaints as I agree, it brings down the tone of the Home Park area. These issues have a wider impact on society than we often give them credit for. Whats the na...

Have emailed Geoff.
Perryman - your post was very relevant, and welcome.
Whether retained or demolished, the land needs to be sorted out properly and something of equal architectural interest and benefit to the local area built to replace it.
We need to see this as an opportunity.

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

Relaxed about removal, but agree Bell Green has been turned into an unsightly mess. This is likely why people voted to try to retain the gas holders - simply to try to ensure that we do not get another cladded horror-blot on the landscape, or soulless square box selling the same old tat + a car park.

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

Yes. Finally made it last night for a G&T at the bar and a quick bite. Great atmosphere. Agree layout will likely improve when fully established and they are clearer on what’s trading well. Need a door closer on that front door, and to sort the ventilation out ( condensation forming in windows) ...

I’d just discovered their muesli.... then... gone.
Thought the fruit and veg could have been fresher though.
Who do we write to?

We have some measure of service restore too. Not enough for a shower but enough for drinking water and a sink / bucket wash.
