Re: Sydenham wish list
You are confusing fullness with frequency. A bus does not need to be overcrowded for it to run more frequently or logically each bus would wait until it is entirely full before it eevr went anywhere.. The 176 is no good at all for people living in Lower Sydenham. There is a connecting service- the ...

Re: Sydenham wish list
I always just thought I missed them because I'm often out of town  Was it just not successful? I think it just died a death. I don't think it ever really had the right kind of stalls frankly. That's not a criticism of the stallholders or their products, it's the context. I mean, I bought some ...

"6. Monthly markets to be made weekly" Er, I think the monthly market no longer exists and hasn't for a while! I always just thought I missed them because I'm often out of town  Was it just not successful? Where is Kirkdale Green? The little park across the road from the Petrol Stati...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Most young people in Sydenham when going for a meal don't think to go to the Italian restaurant, even if it is affordable, because of a perception it's for "proper adults" and maybe families. They (we), go Beckenham or elsewhere for a meal because there isn't a restaurant aimed at the tee...

1. It would be nice to see artwork on the side of the building overlooking the railway bridge now that the billboard has gone. 2. Get good quality flags on the street lights again, similar to Herne Hill. 3. More shops filled - get a new supermarket in the old Budgens, maybe even rebuild it. 4. The S...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
In Nandos you normally have people from all demographics (racial, age, religion etc.) eating and working there. Its affordable and doesn't aim to just please an adult middle-class market. Most young people in Sydenham when going for a meal don't think to go to the Italian restaurant, even if it is a...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I have just checked the Council's planning portal and it says planning permission GRANTED! Well done to all those who have supported the campaign to get the planning permission which will secure major and much needed investment in our town centre. I will be joining the conga around Cobbs Corner thi...

Now the scaffold is coming down, it does look like a very nice and well done development. Hopefully, the retail unit will be filled quickly!

Wonderful! Hopefully no more delays.
I do hope the graffiti is properly removed from the top of the building too.

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Hey thanks for the update Prince. It's outrageous that this could be held up for so long, something stinks. And when I read about the social cleansing of Deptford and the complete lack of interest in Sydenham, Lewisham councillors have got away with too much for too long. Well you either infiltrate...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
I'd rather King's Cross style homes but, this is Lower Sydenham and it all comes down to costs. King's Cross style homes won't be "affordable" because of the cost of construction/decontamination which then raises its own issues. I see there is already a proposed development at Bell Green w...

Re: Boundary Commission, revised proposals
Very interesting website. I am quite surprised at the idea that not a single ward in Dulwich voted Tory. Even Dulwich Village. It does like everything this government wants, it will be scrapped. There are talks that energy cap proposals will probably go soon, as of course, you can't have very rich p...

One of the MP's that represent us in Parliament is stalling this. Watch this space for their name if this application doesn't start to speed up in the right direction. All may be revealed and they'll be losing their seat. I've been suspecting someone "high" has been stalling. The question...

Re: Aslef to recommend ending strikes on Southern Rail
I'm not sure what the wording is as I don't work for GTR and I don't personally know anyone who works for them. That being said, there are divides and the RMT aren't having any of it, having just announced more strike action. As Gibb report, the report itself was slightly disputed concerning the acc...

Must be magic doors on them there trains. The general quality of public transport down here needs great improvement. There is a difference between 5 coaches on a str...

Re: Boundary Commission, revised proposals
Likelife, I think it might be an assumption that because a lot of the 50 MPs who will lose their seats are currently held by Labour, then with a similar voting pattern those Labour votes will be "lost" in what will become safe Tory seat areas. The previous attempt at changing boundaries w...

Re: Boundary Commission, revised proposals
That is a fair point. I saw the BBC reporting the Tories would've had a majority if this was already in place. Would have been good if they'd published a map showing the results.
