Re: Anyone for "neighbourhood forums"

Immediate thought is whether the Sydenham Assembly already delivers what Neighbourhood forums intend to do.

Re: Local opticians

Agree with others - Woodfalls is good. Enjoyable checkups, enjoyable selection of frames as you see and feel your money being spent; good honest and balanced opinions given as to the differences between them and other nationwide opticians who offer two for one etc. you take your choice. After sales ...

Re: Lewisham Council - £60m of spending cuts!

Why stop at just cutting the top officials salaries? If all public servants took a cut, progressive and with the lowest paid taking only a small token cut, then it would be easier to avoid cutting services such as our local libraries. It would also, in my opinion, bring respect from other citizens t...

I don't see a problem here if they didn't get written consent as there's no "commercial purpose" going on - or am I missing something?

I'm about to start my daily commute (3 - 4 times per week at most) - Upper Sydenham to Waterloo, and back. So that's one more of us if you are counting. Also weekend cycling - just doing what needs to be done.

This sounds hilarious - I can't believe it will last and at some stage there must be a reckoning and they will try to take it back. Have you spoken to Oyster about it i.e. made some effort to let them know they are crediting this to you. Without sounding too much like a 'poe faced holier than thou' ...

Now I see what you were meaning... Thinking about it the other way - if someone from North of the river (say) were to come to Sydenham for the first time as an 'explorer' then what would they have to say on their return? Whilst Forest Hill can lay claim to the Horniman, and Crystal Palace to the Pal...

Sydenham - St Johns Wood Single Fare

£2.70 Peak
£2.40 Off Peak

If it was anything else then I'd suggest it was an error.

Please report your suspicions / observations to the police; it does help them (and ultimately us). The Sydenham Safer Neighbourhood Team on 020 8649 3598, or Sydenham.snt at met.police.uk would welcome this kind of detail.

Thanks

Youth clubs do seem to have a positive impact on the rate of crime / anti-social behaviour in their immediate vicinity, or at least when they close their doors the rates go up. The Sydenham Safer Neighbourhood Team collated the number of calls made to the police service in a period (4 months) when t...

Falkor - I don't have any photos myself to add to these - but I appreciate your efforts here. Its fascinating / thought provoking looking at familiar views through a sometimes 100 year old or more lens. And admirably catalogued - thanks.

A word of warning for those hoping to add/buy a travel card (weekly, monthly etc.) to their Oystercard at Sydenham station. It's not one or the other - a balance is usually best. What I prefer is that the balance is determined with some input from local people, rather than it being solely the choice of the police. Easier said than done though.
