Just a question Annie: Are you driving by any chance? Everyone is assuming you are not. :?

Re: Prospect Place, Wells Road

Thanks Maureen, really sad to hear about Michael and his wife. Lots of memories
and even more names are flooding back from those times in Bradford Road. I have
sent you a PM.
Kind regards, Alan.

Re: Prospect Place, Wells Road

Sorry Falkor to deviate away from your original thread "Prospect Place". Our back garden in Bradford road backed onto Prospect road. Sorry I can't help with Prospect place but just
got caught up reminiscing (Ah, what memories they were too!)..

Re: Prospect Place, Wells Road

Hi Maureen, Aha! I now have a good idea of which family you were part of. Michael would have been quite a bit older than me but I knew who he was as I had a real fascination for motor cycles as a child and seem to remember him on a motorbike? I can remember vividly drooling over the noisy machines g...

Re: John Logie Baird

Thanks Gordon, Your website reveals that we get to know a fair amount about a famous person's achievements, commercial success and their place in history but not very much about the person themselves or events of importance in their own life as a human being. We rarely get to know much at all of the...

Re: St Phillip's Infant School and St Barts junior school

Tim   , I was probably trying to do Gathering Peascods and Picking up sticks, but both at the same time! No wonder I just couldn't get that country dancing quite right and just ended up treading on the other kids feet! That would explain my total incompetence, I'm still no twinkle ...

Re: St Phillip's Infant School and St Barts junior school

That's the dance in the video posted so obviously 'gathering' not 'picking', an indication of how much I hated being made to dance and probably treading on lots of feet in the process! :? Later on I much prefered Cricket, rounders and football played in the playground with Mr Howlett who coached us ...

Re: St Phillip's Infant School and St Barts junior school

The 2 dances I remember were 'The Dashing White Seargent' and 'Picking up peasepods', they're the names as I remember them. We used to be marched down to the annex near cobbs corner to perform these country dances. Mrs Cowell was always there and I believe taught a class in the annex, thread has rem...
