Re: Mopeds
I think the original poster was alerting us to potential crimes and unpleasantness visited upon our persons - not bravado , derring do or other winsome sounding ways of describing these young tikes-on-bikes. I don't actively wish them harm but they are below sparrows , crested newts and hedgehogs in...

Re: water pressure
We only got £30 ! Small recompense for waking up at 3am to rattling pipework and having to delay my monthly bath ( whether I need one or not ) until the evening . Makes you appreciate clean running water though . Speaking of which , isn’t it time there was an outright ban on plastic mineral water bo...

Ticket for Eleanor Marx - tonight 8pm
Due to one of our party phoning sick we have one ticket going for tonight’s performance - it’s a concession ticket but I’m sure the organisers will look kindly on a non concession person buying it rather than wasting a seat . If interested pm me me straight away . By all accounts of the play so far ...

Re: New council houses
Mosy I agree , on the one hand we are wondering why more people didn’t raise concerns about the dire design and finish of St Philip Neri and now people are being slighted for recognising the validity of some objections . It seems like the housing or more properly people crisis makes logic offensive ...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?
This is absolutely appalling - like cars , unchallenged ,parked on the pavement it says : you can do whatever you want in Sydenham and no by-law or local agency will challenge . It’s not exactly covert - how in the name of arse do they get away with despoiling the streets and creating health hazards...

Re: The mural designs!
Rather than just complain about what i don’t want I guess I’d say the 4th one would be preferable - it looks like sign writing rather than graffiti and conjures Betjeman rather than the Bronx . Fair play to those that like it but this thread feels to me a bit “ which eyesore do you fancy? “ . A very...

Re: The Monstrosity
Excellent news - whilst I’m sure everyone supports the needs of schools there is no excuse for developers sacrificing good design and finish so they can pocket a few more quid for BMWs , hot tubs and dodgy porches or whatever these Philistines spend their money on . I think we can celebrate some rec...

Re: Don't mess with old men in Hither Green
Two things lacking in our criminal justice system - sense of. Natural justice and victim empathy . The public will be repulsed at the thought of a 78 year old in custody for murder following his defending his wife and Home from two armed men. I’m an armed struggle when the hell did the old chap get ...

I’ve never had a bad meal from Himalayan kitchen - the worst was ok once but generally very good or really very good .
In my experience they deliver pretty promptly , I’m usually still changing for dinner when they turn up.
They are really charming people too .
A very good takeaway

Re: Shall we all write to Co-Op and ask them to come back?
Poppy Me too ! Not to sound too much like Harry Hill but we had a great two-part System : Coop for everyday ( not meat veg or bread of course ) Waitrose for a bit of sauciness at the weekend - both ethical type shops . I’d love them to come back and all those negative nancies who said they were too ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I think a vote of thanks to the Sydenham Society and Chris Best would not go amiss . Without them Puresnake or whatever they call themselves would have destroyed the building - it certainly would not have been returned and refined into what promises to be a very valuable addition to Sydenham . A ver...

I’m going to sound like a Luddite here but what the hell is hard about phoning Himalayan Kitchen for instance , as I did last night , speaking to charming lady who takes the orders - followed by 35 mins of anticipation , laying the table , warming the plates and deciding what to drink ? If you are a...

Re: Wall Art Homecroft Road
I think it looks amateurish and totally out of place . I wonder how many neighbours wish it were just well-pointed brickwork , or a nice fence with foliage spilling over or a mixed hedge with berries and birds twittering from within ? I quite like some of those Banksy-esque murals in Penge like the ...

Re: New houses proposed
Stuart It’s fine and dandy describing Chris’ response as a diversion but remind yourself how much of previous post/sermon was about the 4 houses , rather than your saintly vision for us ignorant masses. His proposal about flogging your gaff for an “affordable” price is actually on the money - you pr...

Re: New houses proposed
Tredown man , And I understand your point but if those who do live in pleasant homes already don’t vocalise their views , how shall their opinions be “ weighed “ as you put it against those who completely misunderstand the question ? My point is that we have a right to object to ugliness and overcro...

Very well put OnCrestofHill . This post seems to have got very dominated by one or two dogmatic voices . I would say a homeowner or Tennant doing everything they can to stop their garden being overlooked /overshadowed or having someone’s lounge suddenly peering into theirs - is not unreasonable . I ...

Great idea and happy to help - it would be good to get as much coverage as possible , after all , it’s as much about showing our objection to people who flytip and spit chewing gum , as removing the rubbish .
Definitely count me in .

I know people have posted about them before . I used them for the first time today ( I am still pining for the excellent Allan Hills at Crystal Palace ) and have to say very positive experience . I'm not a fan of Dulwich - not to generalise but people seem less likely to share the pavement or acknowledge each other .
Sydenham much more friendly in my view .

PS I exclude the twonk that nearly bumped into me today whilst gibbering into a mobile device .
