Sydenham food and drink

I can't help wonder how the Poodle Club is going to make much money if it's closed during the week when it could open as a bar. I think a bar that provides comedy at the weekend would stand a better chance of succeeding than a comedy bar. Comedy is very subjective, unlike drinking. The posts about i...

Trying to contact Sydenham Tennis Club

I've been trying to contact someone at Sydenham Tennis Club to take out a membership for my wife, but no one responds. I completed the enquiry form on the web site two weeks ago, and since then have e-mailed and left two messages on the answerphone. Can anyone help?

Kirkdale cookery school and waffle place

Does anyone know anything about the cookery school and waffle place that are due to open soon on Kirkdale? Also, I'm wondering how well the sushi restaurant is doing. There was some very positive reviews about it on the forum when it first opened. Yet every time I go past, it never seems very busy.

Local author wins international award

Sydenham is full of talented artists, writers and musicians, so it's great to read this:

Police incident last night

Does anyone know what happened near The Dolphin last night? When I drove past at around 11 pm, a section of the road was sealed off by the police.

Re: Cookery school on Kirkdale

It's a couple of doors from Alhambra. I think it used to be a costume shop. I seem to recall a post on the forum some time back about thinking of opening a cookery school teach to teach mainly Indian cookery. Not sure if this is the same thing.

Re: New local chef

Very interesting idea. But how does this work? Do you cook the food at home and deliver? Also, how do you plan how much to cook? And what sort of prices are we talking?

Re: Have you seen any snakes in Sydenham gardens?

I've had a look at images of corn snakes, and it might have been one. I haven't seen the snake this morning, but it could still be somewhere in the greenhouse. It was such a surprising sight in suburban Sydenham.

Have you seen any snakes in Sydenham gardens?

Early this evening I was standing in our garden off Laurie Park Road when, to my amazement, I saw a snake in the corner of our greenhouse. It was quite thin, about a foot long, and had orange and black markings. From a quick Google, it seems to be an adder, which, apparently is common in Britain, an...

Door recommendation

Can anyone recommend somewhere where I can buy a new porch door? I've looked at B & Q, Homebase etc, and they seem a bit pricey. I'm wondering if there's a decent local company that supplies inexpensive doors.
