Public transport is indeed an advantage of Sydenham. 13 minutes to London Bridge from Sydenham or Lower Sydenham. About the same to Victoria from Penge East. Direct services to Victoria, Charing Cross, Waterloo (East), London Bridge, Cannon Street... Croydon, Bromley. Connecting services to Brighton...

Free speech is important. However one might expect those who have a problem with the forum to state why. :? Clearly, if someone believes a forum is a bad idea under any circumstances, then you would expect them not to participate at all. The only conclusion I feel inclined to draw is that we...

There are no statistics. Get used to it. I have kept 6 dogs and 2 cats during my life. Not one of my dogs ever bit anyone. One of the cats most certainly did.... but it did not bite me. I have known countless people who keep dogs. I have never heard of any of them biting.... although clearly, occasi...

Figures concerning bites are guesswork and wildly inaccurate I suggest. How many people do you know who have experienced a dog-bite? One other source of guesswork suggests about 1% of the American population have suffered a dog bite. It does not suggest how and in what circumstances. Then again Amer...

Some might say.... so should women. Muzzles are appropriate only for vicious dogs or dogs which are so immensely strong their owners have little or no chance of controlling them when enraged. Just for the record.... Can anyone produce statistics on the number of dog bites? It must be an easy statist...

It is the occupiers who have to insure. High Rise developments probably have a component for insurance within the service charges that apply. I used to own a flat together with the freehold of the whole building. The leaseholders for the other flat had to ensure they had full cover. It is not imposs...

Re: Mass debate
Who are you to tell people what they should be offended by? Actually I did not. I stated my view that name calling and defamation are inappropriate. I also stated much that is consistent with your own post. For the most part I suggested how useful a forum can be if used wisely. Note Admin popped in...

If you are buying on mortgage your lenders will insist on a survey to be carried out by a surveyor of their choosing. No variety of survey is entirely satisfactory. In this area a Structural Engineer should be called in to examine a property of that age. Even then you will have similar cover clauses...

On.... conversation, discussion, debate and argument
It seems that every internet forum has its collection of folk who seem to believe that any disagreement, with their own sacred view, is a challenge or an attack. There is an all pervading air of paranoia. Personally I regard a forum as an excellent place where debate can be carried on between people...

From a business point of view there is quite a bit going in favour of Sydenham. 1. Only a quarter of an hour's travel from London Bridge by rail. 2. No Parking Meters (yet). 3. Little competition to worry about. 4. The addition of Sydenham to the Underground map is likely to result in a substantial ...

Hi everybody... What a thread and what wild stuff has been posted! I have enjoyed much of it but, I'm sure you will understand, my nervous rash gets itchy when things get personal. They can so quickly degenerate into a slanging match and calls for the Admin to intervene ... and if he does then call...
