Free speech, absolutely. But using the banner of Free Speech to justify offending remarks is not good enough. If you are comfortable and "grown up" about people using such language towards you, more power to you. Me I would find it offensive.

All grown up and able to stand up for myself, and having lived a lot I know when the quote "was used as a term of affection" is used at the end of a sentence you are on a slippery slope. Hadn't intended to amuse but there you go. Yes, we all been called all sorts of things in life, but jus...

Hi Admin,

Thanks for your comments, I stand corrected re our Mayors interest in STF. By the way if I was in charge I would have given STF first prize :D

And what are you about Global Thinker? I usually respect your contributions but I think you failed to notice the Mayor's comments were made nearly TWO YEARS prior to the election. Ahh Paddy, It's nice to know my posts are respected, but even you can't deny to copy and post a message written nearly ...

Whilst I don't agree with Knightons comments I can understand his anger, to have the Mayor contribute to the site so near to local elections is to put it frankly, insulting. Sydenham has one the best community websites in London and instead of encouraging his councillors to contribute we virtually h...

I've sent an email voicing my objections. Hopefully with the current interest in big businesses killing the high street, this one won't go through. Ever curious as to who is promoting Sydenham High Street to Class A1 retailers, is anyone? Another betting shop would not be beneficial to anyone.

Hi Lemonade,

I live on Fairlawn Park and am trying to source the type of bricks used to build the houses. They appear golden/brown and are smaller than the modern bricks. Do you know of any suppliers nearby who can help. Cheers

Ah the great upper/lower divide. As a dweller on Fairlawn Park and a former East Dulwich resident I know what you mean SF. It would be nice to have a bit more retail choice further down the hill but I think Savacentre takes up way too much space and therefore dominates the area. When the consultatio...

I assume by "certain people" you mean me. If all it was meant to be was an invitation for a drink/fun etc why was Sam so upset when JR declined her invitation!! Maybe the forum is not the best place to advertise your personal life however lighthearted your intentions.

Sam,

Can I suggest if you do not want to be the laughing stock of Sydenham, stop posting on the forum. You are starting to sound desperate. I hope you do not get taken up on your offer(s), it would be a sorry day in Sydenham if someone took advantage of such an unhappy person.

New Businesses in Sydenham

Just checking the "shopping news" section and noticed it hasn't been updated in a while. Any more info available regarding the new owners of the old Copper Lamp, now a cafe. It also seems strange that the Glamour Lounge will be opening in February with little or no fanfare. There is also a...
