London Bridge goes offline this Friday/Monday

Post by admin »

Friday 28th March Normal service until 10am. Then no trains to/from LBG until 1130 with disruptions continuing thereafter. Evening rush hour may be problematical.

Saturday/Sunday 29/30th March No Southern trains to/from LBG AT ALL!

Monday 31st March Early morning disruption expected with trains in the wrong place. Also possibility of engineering over run.

This is to facilitate the opening of two new platforms and closure of two others as part of the reconfiguration of LBG from 6 through platforms and 9 terminal platforms to 9 & 6 respectively (or thereabouts) as part of the Thameslink programme.

Southern seems to be all over the shop this morning. Blaming 'signalling issues'. Whether that is a consequence of the works or because its a Monday goodness knows. Check latest situation here:

Southern appear to have got their trains back on the rails over lunchtime and are currently running with no or little delay. So it is looking good for the boys and girls wanting to come directly home from LBG tonight as opposed to the cancellations and 40 minute stacks this morning.

Not that good sadly. Southern advise Platform 11 is closed for rest of day and there are several train cancellations, and looks like the 06/36 trains from Lon Bridge to West Croyden are cancelled through the evening peak. Apparently the Overground is running additional train/s to West Croydon though whether that really makes up for the capacity is doubtful. Be wise to check Sothern site before travelling tomorrow.

The Sydenham departure board appears to have got back to normal: Overground on-time, Southern 5 minutes late.
