Now it's horse "messages" on pavement!

Post by mosy »

This morning, two horses drawing a white funeral carriage were tied to railings on Siverdale for 15 mins or so - I guess the carriage had arrived early - then went on its way, shortly afterwards returning laden. I was astounded that the droppings were left on the pavement. The funeral directors should be ashamed, as I'm sure would be whoever booked the carriage.

If I knew whose carriage it was I'd be tempted to name and shame.

I'm glad someone else saw them - when i went to the station at about 9am they were still all inside a lorry just by the station and I wasn't sure that I believed my eyes.
horses are not that common around here.

If it happens again, can I have the droppings for my garden?

Police horses drop it all the time so I doubt there's any law against it

In deference to the family who've lost someone, I'll opt out now.

On the road is one thing. On the pavement is another

There was a police horse box at Bell Green near the Sainsburys delivery entrance this morning, with police saddling up the horses. When I came back a couple of hours later, there was a lot of horse droppings on the pavement across the road from the bus stops. Guess the police don't have to pick up, unlike dog owners!!! Maybe someone will collect the droppings for their roses :D

I find nothing offensive about horse droppings. They are fragrant and friable, unlike those of dogs, and I think they add tone to the neighbourhood.

It’s perfectly lawful to allow your horse to soil the highway and not clear it up.

I'm more worried about what other road users pump into the air than what horses enrich the ground with.
