This week at Sydenham Arts

Post by SydArts »

Today we kick off our #Sixty bi-monthly programme for our plus 60's with a film showing of All About Eve. Written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, this is one of Bette Davis' finest performances.

Join us today, Wednesday 27 March, upstairs at the Sydenham Centre for the showing of this classical movie http://sydenhamarts.co.uk/event/sixty-a ... ankiewicz/.

It is FREE entry (donations very welcome) and there will be tea/coffee/cake available. Doors open at 3 p.m. for a 3.30 p.m. start.

Join us again tomorrow night, Thursday 28 March, for a screening of Lady Bird with Sydenham Film Club http://sydenhamarts.co.uk/event/film-club-lady-bird/. Doors 7pm. Screening 7.30pm.. Licensed Bar & Snacks.

Written & Directed by Greta Gerwig. Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalomet star in this coming of age drama which first graced our screens in 2017 and went on to be nominated for 5 Oscars. Christine “Lady Bird” MacPherson is a high school senior from the “wrong side of the tracks.” She longs for adventure, sophistication, and opportunity, but finds none of that in her Sacramento Catholic high school. LADY BIRD follows the title character’s senior year in high school, including her first romance, her participation in the school play, and most importantly, her applying for college.

We are also pleased to launch our Platform Series supported by Arts Council England of a local multi award-winning, published Photographer, Rachel Rimell, running from 31 March (Mothers Day) to all through April at On the Hoof, 23 Sydenham Road, SE26 5EX - Drop in.

Tattooed Mamas – Motherhood and Identity Exhibition

Focusing on tattooed mothers as a visual metaphor, the series explores how the role of motherhood can subsume and overshadow the identities of women as individuals alongside the stereotypes surrounding motherhood.
