Election outcome

Post by Nick Long »

I would like to thank the 1,464 people who voted Green in West Lewisham and the additional person who voted for me but who's ballot was ruled invalid for want of an offical mark! Almost 5%. This is above the national average vote for Green candidates

This was the first outing for the Greens in West Lewisham at a general election and we have put down a marker to build on for future. We are intending to stand Green candidates in every ward for the local elections next year.

Can I also thank those electors who contacted me rasing a variety of issues and concerns. I would also like to thank the many workers who staffed the polling stations and counted the votes into the early hours of the morning.

Congratulations on this result!

After some deliberation, I did vote Green, but was very pleased to see that Jim Dowd kept the seat (although I guess it would have been a real upset if he hadn’t).

What a funny old election it was!
