Local Theatre review - Vincent in Brixton

Post by back_ache »

Just a few miles (or a short train journey) is the South London Theatre in West Norwood, as it is our nearest theatre I went along to a production of theirs to find out how good they are.

The production I went to see was "Vincent in Brixton" which is about Vincent Van Gogh’s time to living in Brixton in 1873 where we see the progress of him from being an art dealer, a teacher, a fervent preacher to the beginnings of his creative talent.

The show I found touching, thoroughly enjoyable and totally professional, I also found the theatre (formally an old fire station) charming and the parking in the side streets easy (for those travelling by train, it is next to West Norwood train station, a direct journey from Sydenham).

The show is on till Saturday and you don't necessarily need to book in advance.
