Sydenham Fun Palace - free activities for all, this weekend!

Post by Spontaneous »

So if you didn't already know, the first Sydenham Fun Palace event takes place this coming weekend - Sat 6 & Sun 7 Oct - at four venues around Sydenham: Sydenham Community Library, Sydenham Centre, The Grove Centre and TNG Youth Centre.

So what is a Fun Palace?

A Fun Palace is an opportunity for a community to share its skills and talents by offering free activities to all who come along. With the emphasis on the arts and science - and everything in between - a Fun Palace is much more than just a fete or an open-day.

Originated by Joan Littlewood at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in the 1950s the concept was revived a few years ago and Fun Palaces have been happening across the country ever since.

Full details of all the Sydenham Fun Palace events can be viewed here (click on the link and search for Sydenham in the search bar for all FOUR venues):

Spontaneous Productions theatre company is hosting the event at Sydenham Centre on Saturday 6 Oct (noon-6pm) with its full timetable and activity details here:

Highlights will include a free workshop to learn a song and dance routine from our family theatre show THE THREE LITTLE PIGS, life drawing sessions, animation, creative writing, digital photography, community singing and a chance to generate electricity by riding a bicycle! There's also a tour of Ignition Brewery's onsite facilities - so something for everyone!

We're always looking for volunteers to help out on the day, so come along at noon and we can show you the ropes.
