Kirk's

Post by lemonade »

Hello everyone
I went into Sydenham yesterday for the first time in ages. I'm looking to purchase a new digital camera. I noticed an Estate Agents where kirks Cameras once was.....I'm sad Kirk's in gone, you could get anything there!

I agree about the camera shop. They told me that they were moving to Deal to continue trading so maybe they have a web address etc..?
It is such a pity that these shops are closing down.
Also does anyone know what is happening to the Turkish Grill next to the Golden Lion? Is it closing ?We need more decent restaurants too as I spend too much time socialising in Beckenham.

And their main trade was selling old German cameras to the Japanese by mail order. Quite neat for a Sydenham based business I thought.

Sadly it was folks like me swopping my beloved 35mm Olympus for a Digital Pentax that sealed their High Street presence and going completely online.

There is a camera shop in Catford between Mount Pleasant Road and George Lane.

Thanks for your replies. Have now purchased one from Jessups.
I do miss Kirk's though. My father, also a keen photographer, (35mm) used to take me there as a kid. But I guess, 30 years or so on, things had to change somewhat.
