Soldering on...

Post by dorino »

I have a lovely 1950's metal coat stand, that just needs one of the arms soldering back on. Can anyone tell me where I'd be able to get this fixed locally?
Thanks

Ask the guy down at the Bathhouse down near Bell Green. I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

This raises and interesting point. There are loads of charity shops, antique shops and second hand stuff available on ebay or freecycle.

There are loads of great inspirational websites like Designsponge.com.

But there is a bit of a skill shortage.

It's far more sustainable to fix stuff you already have than to throw it away and buy new. While you can get your shoes mended or your clothes mended at a dry cleaners, anything else seems to be more difficult to find.

Good luck finding someone to fix your coat stand and please let everyone know how you got on. We are a 'transition town' now, so information like this is good to share.
