Rock on Herb Alpert!

Really loved this one when I was a kid (below):

Dated (I know) but wish I could play trumpet like this! :D

I see he did this as a duet (in English) with Elton John, but that misses what I think is so brilliant about this, which is this
Ignorant le passé
Conjuguant au futur
Je précédais de moi
Toute conversation
Et donnais mon avis
Que je voulais le bon
Pour critiquer le monde
Avec désinvolture
which I'll translate - probably badly - as "knowing nothing about the past, speculating about the future, I only talked about myself, spouted my opinions and casually criticised everyone else out there". It seems to nail something about callow youth rather better than the more obvious regrets about sex and alcohol implied in the English versions.

No madrigals so far on this thread, I notice. Here is a very simple four-part one which I first sang forty years ago and which still moves me. The artificiality of the words and the music somehow distances you from the emotion, and thereby enhances it.

A bit like Mozart does...

Only just noticed that Linda Rondstadt has Parkinson's disease, and will never sing again. The track that made her famous.

A recent thread mentioned Guitar Heroes / Classical music, etc. Why not mix the two:
CANNON ROCK:
