Are you referring to the Sydenham Gas and Coke Company? If so, it was opened in 1851 off Westow Hill, Upper Norwood and taken over by the Crystal Palace District Gas Company, at Bell Green, Lower Sydenham, in 1854. Records of this short-lived company are held at the London Metropolitan Archive.

The much longer-lived gasworks at Bell Green began in about 1854 as the CP District Gas Co. In 1904 (and until nationalisation in 1949) it became the South Suburban Gas Co.

Lewisham Local Studies and Archives (at http://tinyurl.com/ghew) has pictures and maps of the Bell Green site.
