OK - I've had another little fiddle and made it more maroon so you can tell the difference. Any better?

Maroon now seems to be the default colour, with red for the threads where there are unread posts. Fine by me, although the 'unread posts' threads don't stand out so prominently as they did.

Today's new look, thread headers and links, now fine by me, though on a desktop, so can't comment on mobile look.

I have just set mine as "responsive blue" On my iPad then the red shows up ok.
