Does anyone remember the Youth Club in what was called the Green Hut (a shack really) to the left of Philip Neri Church?
We went there in the 70's and it was great - everyone knew each other.
We had many a wedding reception and party there.
No gun culture, no knives, no binge culture, no phones, rarely a house phone, no-one being murdered for a mobile phone, no gangs like today's, no fear of contemporaries, everyone had more or less the same - not much of anything!. I don't think I remember seeing a police car in Sydenham.
My sister was married in Nov 73 and we had a reception there and still remember it vividly - the whole area came I think as we were one of the largest families around at the time.
