Footzies

Post by Bovine Juice »

Saw today that a re-development plan for the site (residential for nearly 300) was turned down recently. Can anybody tell me what goes on down there? Never seen any sports on the pitches, the boot fairs stopped a few years ago and the clubhouse is tiny. Seems like a waste of space that could be better used by a local boys football club or the like.

It's the Dylon Factory that has been demolished.

This is the 'design'.

No sense of place, rather safe, boring.

Shame elements of the factory weren't retained. More history, sense of place wiped away forever by developers who were given planning via tribunal against council wishes.

So much for 'localism'. Shame no-one was interested in fighting to save it.

Lee

One is in agreement. I visited the factory at least twice and seem to recall very nice design.

Not sure where Dylon have shifted production to. What a shame a proper factory could not have been retained for local employment.

Shame and more shame.
