A Shakespearean treasury of song

Post by SydArts »

Sounds and Sweet Airs presented by Felicity Hayward and Catherine Herriott

The works of William Shakespeare have offered inspiration to generations of writers and musicians, who have used his poems and plays to create innumerable works for the concert hall, stage and screen. In this song recital, marking 400 years since Shakespeare's death, soprano Felicity Hayward and pianist Catherine Herriott explore his ongoing legacy, with a particular emphasis on interpretations of Shakespeare by 19th and 20th century composers. The programme is set to include music by Richard Strauss, Madeleine Dring and Dominick Argento, as well as a semi-staged performance of Jonathan Dove's Ariel.
