Kindnesses in Our Local Shops

Post by JGD »

My BH had to make a trip to Sydenham to replenish some medication.

Amongst other outlets, she visited Boots and Billings. Queueing was in the main orderly and people were in positive spirits.

Two things she observed lifted her more than a little.

The Boots staff were clearly working incessantly and there were some complications in dealing with the needs of some customers. One member of staff came to the front door and announced that they had been working all morning without a break and had not had anything to drink or eat. They were proposing to close the shop to enable them to have a bite and a drink. She apologised and offered to take all prescriptions from waiting customers which they would fill during this break. Customers were invited to return in a short while to pick up their medications.

Kindness and dedication on the part of Boots staff that is worthy of comment and commendation.

The BH moved on to Billings and joined a queue that was once more, orderly.

She was behind a lady of a little maturity, who on her order having been handed to her by the very chipper staff behind the counter, produced a cake and presented it to the Billings team with a "thank you" from her.

BIG smiles all round. An unexpected and unanticipated kindness. Once more worthy of comment and commendation.

It's a two way street. We can ALL help one another.

We will get through this.

Edited to add at request of BH: The cake was home made too.

A BH is a better half - in my case - Linda.
