Community Centres for Receiving Suspected CV-19 Patients

Post by JGD »

Lewisham CCG has announced that two Community Centres to be used specifically to assess patients with suspected Covid-19 have opened in north and south parts of borough. Access can only be gained by making an appointment by contacting your GP or by calling NHS 111.
The two Covid-19 community centres, south of the borough at Marvel Lane Surgery in Grove Park, and north of the borough at the Waldron Centre in New Cross, have opened as part of the borough’s emergency response to the outbreak and are part of a national network to manage the growth of coronavirus cases.

A Lewisham CCG spokesperson said: “The centres will provide care for patients who are unwell with suspected Covid-19 symptoms requiring medical attention.

“The centres will offer additional support to secondary care, alleviating pressure at local hospitals. Neighbouring residents have been informed.”

The community centres will be open seven days a week and patients will be seen on the same day they contact their GP or 111 if they need a face-to-face appointment.
“But it’s important to remember that these community centres are not testing facilities.

“They are purely for patients who are unwell, are suspected of having Covid-19 and require medical attention following an appointment being made for them,” according to the spokesperson.

Reports in an article today which has data from an independent source that is not tainted by some of the more politicised guff we have had presented to us in the Daily No 10 Briefing. Is anyone else tiring of the reports of an exaggerated "error free" performance made by our "working every hour" Cabinet?

Even with its evident independence, the data should be treated with some caution. It may be premature to consider the reported downward trends as being conclusive. Another week of similar trending may prove to be more convincing.
London is no longer a coronavirus infection hotspot, according to the latest data from a symptom tracking app.

Just two per cent of people are likely to have Covid-19, according to the modelling – down from more than six per cent just over two weeks ago.

Nationally, the predicted number of coronavirus cases fell from 2 million to just over 500,000 in two weeks – down more than 70 per cent.
Millions of people are logging their health on the app, including more than 164,000 in London.

From the data, scientists model the predicted rate of infection in each area – although they can not account for people who have the virus but are not showing symptoms.
