Re: Dealing with housing associations
Unfortunately you're a comparatively small problem in a large organisation, so it may simply be a case of persistance and perseverence and (politely) making a fuss until the issue gets prioritised. I doubt you'll get far with the HCA. The Housing Ombudsman service handles complaints against housing ...

Re: Billings Fishmonger and NOW BUTCHER!
Having been a bit of a late convert, I realized they'd won me over when I left Waitrose the other day with no meat or fish, having determined I'd be better off buying in Billings.

Re: New bakery in Kirkdale
I hadn't really paid much attention to the new bakery, assuming it would be a plain-white-loaf and sausage roll kind of place, but how wrong I was! As mentioned above, it really does feel like a proper French bakery, with all the loaves, croissants and tarts you'd expect to see. I also fear those al...

Re: Greyhound Development
*bump* The greyhound development is continuing apace and I can't wait to we have a fully functioning pub and some shops on the site. On the subject of which, my other half was in the barbers last week and overheard someone saying Waitrose were lined up to take on one of the shops. Now this sounds li...

Re: Ring O Roses
I always thought the old Ring O Roses sign was the least appropriate typeface for a bridal shop - it looked like something they borrowed from a Sci Fi convention.
The new signage at least superficially improves on that, but I agree with Lee on everything else.

Re: Vote For Kirkdale Village Logo
Just want to say best of luck with all the hard work that's going on to get Kirkdale Village on the map. Sure we can debate whether the name is a bit twee and whether it will stick, but the important thing is that people are making an effort. There's some great local businesses in the area and we sh...

Re: How's the commute?
I've switched from SYD>LB>CHX on national rail to SYD>Canada Water>Westminster on Overground and Jubillee line. Journey is faster - as little as 30mins - and generally more reliable. Journey time reduction is especially good on the way back, where typically I only have to wait 2-3 mins for a connect...

Re: Help with nightmare neighbor
Is your mum keeping a diary of the noise? If not, it’s probably best to start doing this now – the HA has already suggested they’ll need this, and you don’t want to be in a position where you need one later and then have delay things whilst you build enough evidence. Even if you don’t strictly speak...

Traffic monitoring round Peak Hill
I've noticed that round the Peak Hill there's a number of those sets of cables mpunted on the road that are used to monitor traffic flows. Anyone know why they are there? Presume it means they may have some traffic engineering scheme in mind? [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mo...

Re: THE FUTURE LIBRARIES PROGRAM
Also unclear is to what extent this will improve the survival chances of the Lewisham libraries that have been earmarked for closure as part of the budget cuts I'm not sure the programme is aimed at ensuring the survival of existing libraries, more about finding new ways of delivering library servi...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
Nice article. Can I offer a bit of unsolicited advice to Amo, as I'd expect I'm in the target market for Billings (urban 'DINKY' who spends a lot of money on food). -I don't regularly shop on the High Street (normally doing my weekly shop in Beckenham Waitrose) so I won't be regular passing trade, b...

Re: waitrose looking for location
I don't think there's any chance of Waitrose coming here in their current guise, but they're looking at moving into smaller outlets (along the Tesco Express / M&S Simply Food lines) - I could see there's the market for a smaller store.

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
I don't know if it's the guys behind Instanbul (3 variations of the same supermarket in the same street does seem rather crazy, and the one currently in the high street looks awful... Does it? OK the backlit sign is ugly, but they've always got a fantastic array of fresh fruit and veg laid out whic...

Re: Fishmonger then Butchers to open on Sydenham Road...
Do we know if they're still planning on adding a butchers following setting up with fish? Or are they focussing on the fish only?
I must say that given the choice between a butchers and fishmongers, I'd take the fishmongers, but I'd use it a lot more if they offered both.
