Your Festival Needs You! Become a Festival Maker

Sydenham Arts Festival is now looking for Festival Makers to join its growing team of volunteer helpers - a great way to learn new skills, make new friends and be part of a fantastic local event!

We're looking for enthusiastic, reliable and committed local people (ideally SE London) for the following roles:

Event stewards
Box office staff
Front of house staff
Technicians and backstage crew
Event photographers
Drivers
Volunteer Team Leaders (to manage other volunteers)

This year's festival will run between Sat 5 - Sun 20 July, with most events either at weekends or during weekday evenings. Whether you can only spare a few hours or a few days of your time, we'd love to hear from you.

A reminder that if you'd like to find out how to become a Festival Maker, come along to one of our 'volunteer meet & greets' starting this evening, Thurs 5 June, at the Golden Lion (7-9pm) with further meetings on Sat 7 June (Here For Good Centre, 11am-1pm) and again at the Golden Lion on Tues 10 June (7-9pm).

There are lots of opportunities to get involved - we always need box office staff, stewards, Front of House staff, leafletters, drivers, event photographers and general helpers. Hopefully see you at the Golden Lion or Here For Good!

I've just submitted my online volunteer form (via the 'Application form' link at http://sydenhamartsfestival.co.uk/2014/get-involved/) so I thought I'd give this a nudge.

Last year was my first year as a volunteer and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I can highly recommend getting involved.

I have volunteered as a photographer.

I was hoping to be included on the artist trail, but couldn't seem to make that happen...

I've just been to the volunteer briefing session for the opening Sydenham Arts Festival event - the Street Celebration on Saturday 5 July.

It promises to be a fantastic all day event with music, dance and food stalls at three locations - Venner Square, Queensthorpe Square and at the ‘On the Hoof Stage’ at Station Approach.

BUT more volunteers are desperately needed. Please do consider volunteering if you haven't already done so. It's great fun and there's something for everyone to do. To give you a flavour, roles include marshalling the crowds, looking after the performers in the green rooms, giving out brochures to promote Arts Festival events in the following two weeks and setting up stages and other equipment. No previous experience required - just a smile and a willingness to get involved!
